...Good Corporate Citizenship.
In the past two years, the city council and the mayor's office have partnered to find ways to improve building operations, using the savings to create a $1 million investment fund to enhance the operations of other buildings. We also have a goal to significantly reduce waste going into landfills, and District Energy is helping the city meet those goals by using wood waste for fuel instead of non-renewable fossil fuel.
From a bottom line aspect, doing the right thing is doing the smart thing. By making investments that reduce emissions, improve service to customers, and increase operating efficiency, District Energy shows that environmental stewardship is smart business and good corporate citizenship. Their leadership in the field should encourage other operators that they can reduce reliance on fossil fuels, control costs, and help communities reduce waste going into landfills.
District Energy has also made itself a part of the neighborhood. By building an aesthetically appealing plant, improving air quality, reducing its reliance on non-renewable fuels, and keeping energy prices stable, District Energy is helping make Saint Paul the Most Livable City in America.
