Any effective climate change policy will require reductions in carbon emissions of the sort that District Energy is already providing.

Everyone Has a Role to Play...

Meaningful reductions in greenhouse gas emissions will require many different actions, including energy conservation, energy efficiency, renewable energy, and possibly carbon capture and storage. The biomass used by District Energy is a form of renewable energy that is an essential piece of the puzzle needed to address climate change. Any effective climate change policy will require reductions in carbon emissions of the sort that District Energy is already providing.

Burning waste biomass instead of fossil fuels can dramatically reduce our carbon emissions. Using fossil fuels to provide energy for residential and commercial heating and cooling generates a substantial portion of our total carbon emissions. District Energy is providing solutions for carbon emission reductions from this sometimes overlooked source.

Everyone has a role to play in reducing our greenhouse gas emissions through conservation and energy efficiency efforts. District Energy provides a model for residential and commercial heating and cooling that could be replicated in many other cities and towns. Use of waste biomass such as the wood products used by District Energy is a win-win-win, for the environment, for our local economy, and for the consumers of this clean and climate-friendly renewable energy source.
