Regions Hospital
Regions Hospital is a leading, full-service, private hospital with specialized programs in heart, cancer, women's health, orthopedics, neuroscience, surgery, burn, emergency care and more. Its health professionals are involved in teaching and research dedicated to improving health and medical care.
Located in the northeast section of downtown Saint Paul, Regions has been providing medical services to the community since 1872. In 1965 the hospital moved to its current location at Jackson and University Avenues. Regions connected to our district heating system in 1984 and provides emergency backup heating service if District Energy schedules a system shutdown to connect new customers or to perform preventive maintenance work.
In January 2007, construction started on an 11-story addition to the hospital's main building. The $179 million expansion project includes 216 private rooms, 20 new operating rooms, an upgraded emergency center and underground parking for 400 vehicles. When completed in fall 2009, the entire expansion area will connect to District Energy's heating system.
