Success Story

The Minnesota Children's Museum provides fun, interactive learning experiences through child-sized galleries and programs.

Minnesota Children's Museum

Founded in 1979, the Minnesota Children's Museum today is one of the largest and most renowned children's museums in the U.S. The 65,000-square-foot museum annually attracts more than 400,000 visitors who learn through hands-on creative play in seven child-size galleries.

In Our World, children role play "grown-ups" in a child-size environment; World Works encourages creativity and problem solving; Earth World immerses children in life-like Minnesota habitats; Habitot® encourages exploration of four developmentally designed learning landscapes; and Rooftop ArtPark brings nature and art together in an outdoor gallery. Two special galleries offer traveling exhibits from around the world.

District Energy has been providing cooling service to this unique, educational and cultural community organization since it relocated and constructed a new museum in downtown Saint Paul in 1995.

Testimonial

"Another important benefit District Energy offers is education for students about the difference between renewable and fossil fuels. Knowing where our energy comes from is an important lesson for our children to learn, so they can make responsible energy decisions for the future."

The Hon. Betty McCollum
U.S. House of Representatives
