Julio is second vice president of Facilities Services with Securian Financial, a post he has held since 2010, following 18 years in various leadership roles with the 8th largest life insurance company in the United States.
As a senior officer on Securian’s Home Office Council, Julio leads corporate real estate and physical security teams, leveraging his extensive workplace design experience to advance strategic priorities and support talent attraction and retention. Julio has contributed to Securian Financial’s success as a leader of people, a workplace experience designer, and a downtown community champion since he joined the company in 1992.
Currently serving a second term on the board of Greater Saint Paul BOMA, he has previously served on the boards of the Saint Paul Riverfront Corporation, CapitolRiver Council, and the Minnesota Business Academy. Julio has been actively involved in downtown Saint Paul’s revitalization for almost three decades, contributing as a member of the Central Corridor Business Advisory Committee, Lowertown Ballpark Design and Construction Committee, Downtown Vitality Steering Committee and Business Review Council. He is currently advancing the Saint Paul Downtown Alliance’s mission as co-chair of the Special Service District Feasibility Committee.
Prior to joining Securian, Julio worked as an interiors architect with Ackerberg and Associates Architects in Saint Louis Park. He holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.
