
Michelle Beeman
Michelle recently retired from a career in public service focused on environmental protection and regulation. After completing her joint law and environmental studies degrees, she began her career at the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office representing state environmental agencies. She then went on to hold leadership roles including Legislative Director at the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, and Environment Director for Dakota County. She also served as a member of the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) Citizens Board and concluded her state service as Deputy Commissioner at the MPCA under Governor Mark Dayton.
In addition to her public service, Michelle spent four years with The Nature Conservancy as the Conservation Strategies Director, where she led large-scale forest protection work in Canada. She currently serves as a Commissioner on the Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources (LCCMR).
Michelle volunteers at Garlough Elementary School and Keystone Communities, and enjoys taking classes, hiking, biking, gardening, and traveling. She grew up in New York, graduated from Princeton University, and earned her law and master’s degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She currently resides in Saint Paul alongside with her spouse, Barbara.
